Position description
The Drilling and Well Modeling group in NORCE is a world leader in automated / autonomous drilling and currently has 20 researchers with a background in mathematics, physics, cybernetics and software development. The group works closely with the industry and other research institutions, both nationally and internationally, and has a tradition of taking the research all the way to practical application. Last year autonomous drilling was demonstrated at our own full-scale rig in Stavanger.
The research group is hosting a center for research-based innovation, SFI DigiWells, where we develop new knowledge and technology that will help to drill and position wells in a more optimal manner to reduce costs and environmental footprint. The group is also involved with various research and innovation projects outside the center and host of the digital research infrastructure OpenLab.
Because of the increasing activity, there is a permanent 100% position available as senior researcher.
